Aims & Scope

Aims

The Journal of Theoretical, Computational and Applied Mechanics is a scholarly overlay journal, provided on a Fair Open Access basis, without cost to both readers and authors (Diamond Open Access). The Journal aims to select publications of the highest scientific calibre in the form of either original research papers or reviews.

JTCAM is a member of the Free Journal Network (FJN).

Scope

The focus is placed on contributions of fundamental importance in the broad domain of solid mechanics, mechanics of materials and structures. The journal aims to achieve a balance between theoretical, numerical, applied and experimental research. While rooted in mechanics, the journal strives to bridge to a broad range of scientific disciplines beyond engineering, namely applied mathematics and numerical methods, materials science, applied physics and geophysics. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to

  • mechanics and physics of solids and materials
  • experimental mechanics
  • computational methods in mechanics, mechanics of structures
  • theoritical mechanics and applied mathematics to mechanics
  • constitutive modelling: plasticity, damage and fracture mechanics
  • data-driven mechanics and modeling, machine learning techniques, uncertainty quantification in mechanics
  • non linear dynamics and non-smooth dynamics: impact, wave propagation and vibration
  • and oriented based articles on bio-mechanics, geo-mechanics, composites, multi-body systems, fluid-solid interaction, mechanics of interfaces. ...

The journal also invites articles of an expository nature. These should be clearly identified as  such on submission and in the abstract to ensure appropriate review. Data and software papers are also welcome. There is no page limit for expository articles. Other articles should be of length commensurate with the scope of their original contribution.

Fair open access

In terms of governance, the journal is committed to the principles of Fair Open Access:

  1. JTCAM is owned and controlled by the scholarly community as outlined in the Constitution.
  2. The authors retain copyright of their works, which are published under a standard open access license as outlined in the Editorial Policy.
  3. All articles are assigned a DOI and are freely available to the public at no cost for the authors.
  4. The JTCAM overlay journal is housed in the Épisciences platform, as described in the submission guide for authors.

In addition to the FAIR principles, we are implementing a policy of Genuine open access.
